New Software

So I just downloaded MacJournal to try and help me with this blog. I'm going to spend the next two weeks experimenting with it to see if it will help make some of the formatting issues a little easier. It has a ton of fonts that I am not going to bother with (at least for the time being), and I'll try not to go overboard on the use of color. My next goal is to figure out how to insert pictures into these entries. After all what good is a gadget blog if you can't insert pictures of all the nice shiny toys I want to write about.

Current Distractions

Sidekick II - Great Form Factor, unfortunately it seems that this may be a case of form over function. If only they could get their act together this could really be the blackberry killer.

ibook G4 12" - A new purchase and the first mac I have ever owned. OSX is a marvel and the fact that I do not start everyday by running AdAware, spybot, spybot blaster, etc., makes me feel that I am actually getting work accomplished, instead of spending half my time getting ready to get work accomplished.

Sony Vaio Media Center RA-710G - TiVo for the big boys. A 250 GB hard drive, Pentium 4, a ton of third party plug-ins for the os and I can schedule the entire season of "24" and "Drawn Together" to be recorded for review at my leisure.

Kodak DX7630 and Printer Plus Dock - A 6.1 megapixel camera with a huge 2.2" screen. Incredibly intuitive, your grandmother might think that she is Ansel Adams. This camera and printing dock work so well together that they should be advertised by Ron "set it and forget it" Popeil - just click, dock and share your prints.

iPoker - I love being able to play 101 poker variations with up to 11 other computer players that are animated by QuickTime movies. The play is fast and watching the various players' ticks adds a whole new element to the game.

Quicksilver - I'm experimenting with this software. Supposedly it will revolutionize the way I use computers and get smarter as it learns my needs. The jury is still out on this one, but it certainly looks intriguing.

Welcome to The Gadget Guy

Finally! Well, I've been toying with the idea of starting my own gadget blog for ages. Most of my free time is spent playing with, researching, reading other gadget sites and mostly lusting after all things gadget related both big and small. My goal here is simple - muse about whatever flavor of gadget that I find interesting, let people know when something is great and complain about stuff when it leaves me disappointed. I'll do my best to keep this place updated and don't hesitate to let me know when you agree or disagree with any of my opinions. I have a lot to say and promise to get started right away....
